He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Paxton and Jewel Woolery Paxton; his wife Mary Martha Smith; his son Kevin Paxton; and his grandson John Paxton, Jr..
He is survived by: his children, John D. Paxton (Sandra) of Belton, Charles Paxton (Lori) of Hannibal, Naomi Egbert (Troy) of Hannibal, Diana Lasby (Martin) of Hannibal and Latonda Rickey of Hannibal, Missouri; and his siblings, Roy Eugene Paxton of Sedalia, Larry Paxton of Sedalia, Missouri and Helen Brand of Pilot Grove, Missouri. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
