He was predeceased by: his parents, James "Junior" and Elsie Watkins (Dodd) of Virginia; and his close friend Robert "Red" Kemp. He is survived by: his children, Robert Ardrey, James B. Watkins, III, Jamie Sue Bergheger, Nellie Watkins, Sarah Ardrey and Brenda Cole; and his brothers, Dave Watkins (Sarha), John A. Watkins (Renee), Marvin Watkins (Marqueita) and Stevie Watkins. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
