He is survived by: his wife Barbara Bates; his sons, Harry William Bates (Patty) of Florida, Richard Ira Bates of Hannibal and Matthew Thomas Bates (Angela) of Hannibal; and his siblings, David Bates, Darlene Quick Little of Hannibal, Linda Culp (Gary) of Hannibal, Diane Honeycutt (Albert) of Philadelphia and Gloria Light (Bob) of Center. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
