He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Earl Sharkey and Mildred V. Coleman Sharkey; his parents-in-law, Archie and Ellouise Houston; his sister Carol Ann Gottman; his brothers-in-law, Richard "Dick" Gottman and Lee Atkins; and his daughter-in-law Kami Sharkey.
He is survived by: his sons, Ryan Sharkey (Jacqueline) of Hannibal, MO, Darin Sharkey of Hannibal, MO and Kalin Sharkey (Tressa) of Columbia, MO; his siblings, Mervin Sharkey of Hannibal, MO, Joyce Hirner (Charles) of New London, MO, Jill Atkins of Hannibal, MO and Susie Murphy (David) of Hannibal, MO; his siblings-in-law, Diana "Tudy" Stewart (Jim), Teri Hoenes (Rendell), Kim Harmon (Joe) and Chuck Houston (Amy); his grandchildren, Ella Sharkey, Emma Sharkey, Taylor Sharkey and Ashlin Sharkey; and his significant other Archella. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hannibal Pirate Booster Club for the Sharkey Award, the Hydesburg United Methodist Church, or the American Cancer Society.
