He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Paul Atkins and Ann Shelburne Atkins; his brother Lester Atkins; his in-laws, Edward and Mildred Sharkey; and his siblings-in-law, Sam Doran, Dick Gottman and Carol Ann Gottman.
He is survived by: his wife Jill Sharkey Atkins; and his children, Ray Atkins, Reid Atkins (Robyn) and Regina Atkins. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials or contributions to the ALS Association, Hydesburg United Methodist Church, Shiloh Christian Children's Ranch, or donor's choice.
