He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude E. Embree and Sophia Widener Embree; and his siblings, Lucille, Oleta, Catherine, Theresa, Devina Jean, Brice, Bryan and Boyce.
He is survived by: his wife Lillian Closser; his children, Alan Embree (Lori) of Hannibal, MO and Susan Embree of Hannibal, MO; and his granddaughter Lindsey Hartegan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
