He was predeceased by: his parents, Gay Nickell and Jessie Nickell (Cox); his daughter Tammy; his brothers, Ellis "Bud" and Kenneth "Kenny" Nickell; his nephews, Kevin and Kent Nickell; and his foster daughter Margie Madden.
He is survived by: his sons, Dr. Michael Nickell (Janet) of Olathe, KS. and Dr. Steve Nickell (Debbie) of Stanberry, MO.; his grandchildren, Dr. Jason Nickell (Stacey), Leslie Harris (Kurt), Arianne Kopf (Gary), Lauren Clark (Jamy), Dr. Jordan Nickell (Lauren) and Adam Madden (Paige); his sister Marcella Zumbrunnen of Prairie Village, KS.; and his sisters-in-law, Veda Nickell-Anderson of Sedalia, MO. and Eva Nickell. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
