He was predeceased by: his parents, James Richard and Thelma Ponting (Linscott); his wife Betty Ann Downey; and his siblings, Teresa Foster and John.
He is survived by: his sons, Terry Ponting (Connie) of Sumner, Timothy Ponting (Barbara) of Thayer, Theodore Ponting (Brenda) of Chillicothe, Reams Ponting (Lynnett) of Sumner and Dick Ponting Jr. (Debby) of Hale; his sister Mildred Sluter of Gladstone; and his sister-in-law Colleen Johnson of Brunswick. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
