He was predeceased by: his daughters, Barbara Owens and Cherri Owens; and his siblings, Clifford Owens, Clarence Owens, Lawrence Owens, Henry Owens, Bill Owens and Frances McCammon.
He is survived by: his spouse Barbara Reynolds; his children, Jack Owens (Violet) of Joplin, Buddy Owens (Angela) of Joplin, Herb Owens (Jennifer) of Neosho, Opal Goswick (Scott) of Racine, Destiny Owens and Lexi Owens; and his siblings, Jack Owens (Sue) of Granby and Vera Johnston of Joplin. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
