He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Monroe, Sr. and Theodora Bernice Durrill (Montgomery); his stepchildren, Anthony "Tony" Reek and Kelly Sue Erickson; his daughter Jolene; his wife Nancy; his stepson Vince; and his siblings, Terrence Durrill, Ronald Durrill and Sandra Durrill Curtis.
