He was predeceased by: his parents, John D. Ottinger and Virginia Ottinger (Ruoff); his wife Mildred Obermier; his sister Marilyn Littlejohn; and his son-in-law Marty Paxton.

He is survived by: his children, Dennis Ottinger (Sheila), Doug Ottinger (Christie), Debra Paxton and Darren Ottinger (Taunya); his grandchildren, Thomas, Kathryn, Johnathan, Duncan, Alyssa, Ethan (Tesla), Emily (Robert), Amanda, Jessica, Olivia, Noah, Alec, Cross, Drake and Cooper; his great grandchildren, Gracen, Adalynn, Halle, Amara, Draco and Avani; and his siblings-in-law, Craig Obermier and Marjorie Obermier. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
