He was predeceased by: his parents, Herald William Herpel, Sr. and Anna Mae Herpel (Jackson); his brothers, Ralph Herpel, Herald William Herpel, Jr. and Don Herpel; his sisters-in-law, Norma Herpel and Karen Herpel; and his nephew Donnie Herpel.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Herpel; his sons, Robbie Herpel (Rachael) and Russell Herpel (Beth); his grandchildren, Nathaniel, Ethan and Joshua; and his siblings-in-law, Jo Herpel, Peggy Jensen (Jeff) and Leonard Musser. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
