He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Galate and Emanuella "Nellie" Galate; his wife Santa Mary Galate; his in-laws, Salvatore and Kelly Pittala; his siblings, Nathan Galate (Evelyn) and Mary Battaglia (Frank); and his brothers-in-law, Carl Pittala (Sara) and Frank Pittala.
He is survived by: his children, Dr. Joseph Galate (Christine), Natalie Galate and Christina Ainsworth (Steve); his grandchildren, Samantha Pittala, Antoinette Pittala (Cole Anderson), Joseph Pittala (Jessica), Vincent Galate (Anna Galligos), Carson Doxsee, Jake Galate, Alex Toney, Andrew Ainsworth and Sam Toney; his great grandchildren, Addison Smith, Haven Smith, Gianna Pittala and Giavanna Anderson; his siblings-in-law, Josephine Humar (Mike), Dr. Leonard Pittala (Katie) and Kitty Pittala; and his nephews, Anthony Battaglia (Betty), Joseph W. Galate (Debbie) and Michael Galate (Ginni). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
