We are sad to announce that on April 14, 2022, at the age of 96, Robert Gerhardt Backhus (Gladstone, Missouri), born in Tampa, Kansas passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick and Augusta; his grandson Robert Walter; and his sister Connie McConnell of Grain Valley. He is survived by: his wife Ellen; his daughters, Karen McDowell, Gail Myer (Don), Sharon Meade (Richard) and Jackie Walter; his grandchildren, Stacey Snyder (Mike) of Texas, Carmen Posgate (Ian) of England, UK, Col. Christopher Myer (Jennifer) of Germany, Daniel Myer (Sarah) of Kansas City, Aaron Meade (Katherine) of Texas, Sarah Meade of Kansas City and Alec Walter of Kansas City; and his great grandchildren, Haley Snyder, Ashton Snyder, Leif Myer, Alexia Myer, Roland Myer, Olivia Posgate, Jack Posgate, Brock Myer, Sophia Meade, Aubrey Myer and Joelle Meade.
