He was predeceased by: his parents, E. L. "Van" Vanover and Claire Vanover (Meyer); his son Denver Vanover; and his sister Brenda Vanover. He is survived by: his spouse Dongran Shinn; his stepson Brian Martin of Kansas City, MO; his sister Linda Barber (Rick) of Raytown, MO; his niece Amy Loescher (Ron); and his nephews, Jeff Smelser (Shirley) and Todd Hawkins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church Building Fund.
