He was predeceased by: his parents, Lorenzo Dow and Edith Mae Vansandt (Weaver); and his siblings, Dean Vansandt, Hale Vansandt, Cassius Lorenzo VanSandt, Richard Vansandt, Lou Relda Carter and Vivian Dorsett.
He is survived by: his spouse Shirley McLaughlin; his sisters, Beverly Page and Edith Mae Henley; and his children, Wayne Vansandt (Michelle) of Blue Springs, MO, Julene Kost (Jim) of Gladstone, MO and Brenda Smith of Independence, MO. He is also survived by six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.
