He was predeceased by: his parents, John Wesley Hoenshell and Mary Elberta Hoenshell (Gibbons); and his siblings, Roger Dean Hoenshell, Bonnie Rose Hoenshell and Mary Joan Nichols.

He is survived by: his wife Betty Ellen Risner; his children, Bonnie Philpott and Wyatt Hoenshell; and his grandchildren, Shawn Hoenshell (Rebecca), Greg Philpott (Heather), Kelly Eaton (Jason) and Tracy Gregory (Brad).
