He was predeceased by: his parents, William Brookins and Julia Brookins (Phelps); his sons, Ronald and Donald Brookins; and his siblings, William Brookins Jr., Clarence Brookins, Theodore Brookins, Katherine Rowan, Margie Brookins and Alma Williams.
He is survived by: his children, Lawrence Brookins Jr. (Willetta), Vincent Brookins (Eddith), Rhonda Butler (late Pastor William Butler Jr.), Carla Brookins (Walter) and Kay Brookins Daniels (Norris); and his sisters, Ida Holden and Joyce Anderson. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
