She was predeceased by: her parents, William Balk and Elsie Balk (Krumweide); and her husband William S. Scharlau. She is survived by: her children, William R. Scharlau (Mildred) of Dallas, Harriet M. Smith (Michael) of Fulton and Sharon K. Ely of Fulton; and her brother Merton Balk (Neoma) of Buckley. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
