She was predeceased by: her parents, Reverend Elston M. Hines and Margaret L. Hines (Heine); her former husband Ted Mallinckrodt; her husband John E. Bates; and her siblings, C. Robert Hines, Howard Hines and LaVerne Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Margaret Ann Gergen (Michael), Stephen Hines Mallinckrodt (Pamela) and John David Mallinckrodt; her brother Reverend Elroy Hines (Marilyn); her sister-in-law Barbara Hines; her children, Rick, Ann Ross and Kathy; and also Bates. She is also survived by her three children; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren.
