He was predeceased by: his parents, Bob Watkins and Lorean Watkins; his wife Martha EstaLee Watkins; his son Richard L. Watkins; his granddaughter Nicole Robison; and his brother Bobby Watkins.

He is survived by: his children, Carl Watkins, Carolyn Henderson, Ray Watkins, Tony Watkins and Rhonda Dunham; his grandchildren, Tony Watkins, Jennifer Watkins, Jeremy Dunham, Josh Dunham, Katie Iverson, Matthew Watkins, Corey Robison, Kayleigh Jackson, Kyle Watkins and Keith Watkins; and his siblings, Geraldine Kennon, Johnny Watkins and Dora Mae Davis.
