He was predeceased by: his parents, John Guy and Callie Lou Liza Garrett (Harlan); his son James Darrell Garrett; and his siblings, Lorene Largent, Velma Markos, Glenda Garrett, Dolphus "Dee" Garrett, Hubert Garrett, Gerald Garrett and Gene Garrett.
He is survived by: his daughter Doris Boles of Bowling Green, Kentucky; his sister Irene Heard; and his grandchildren, Jamie Garrett, Jeffrey Karger and Jonathon Garrett.
