He had worked at Doe Run and was a US Air Force/ Army Reserve veteran. Born November 12, 1950, in St Louis, to the late Chester and Olive Laura (Boerner) Swafford.

Survived by his loving family which includes his significant other: Catrina Melkowski; son: Bruce Lee Smith of Benton, AR; daughter: Carie Janan Smith of Benton, AR; brother: Larry Smith of Casa Grande, AZ and grandchildren: Sarah Honey Elizabeth Crok, Cole Edmond, Paislee Rain Smith, Bradan Smith, Lucas Smith and Bella Smith; and great grandchild: Luna Marie Edmond.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers: Tommy Smith and James Smith.
