Phyllis Shields Verseman Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Phyllis Shields Verseman of Fenton, Missouri, who passed away on March 30, 2025 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Taylor and Elvinia Ticer Taylor; her parents-in-law, Lawrence and Margaret Shields; her brother Charles; her sister-in-law Pat Taylor; her brother Ted Taylor; her brothers-in-law, Chuck Valier, Gary Hollman, Kenneth (Belva Shields) and Jim Shields; and her great grandchild Palmer Jo Janssen.
She is survived by: her children, Jeff Shields (Maxcy) of Springfield, MO, Cheryl Mueller (Bryan) of Fenton, MO, Joe Shields (Sally) of Vandalia, IL and Scott Shields (Stacey) of Aubrey, TX; her grandchildren, Andy Shields (Maria) of Philadelphia, Alan Shields (Trisha) of Springfield, MO, Josh Shields (Danielle) of Dallas, TX, Emily Janssen (Aaron) of Fillmore, IL, Kate Campbell (Thomas) of St. Louis, MO, Johanna Shields of Vandalia, IL, Rebecca Fangman (John) of Kansas City, MO and Abby Shields of Redmond, WA; her great grandchildren, Ludiveene Shields, Elliot, Camryn, Kolt Janssen, Luke and Clare Fangman; her siblings, Margaret Valier, Laura Hollman, Susie Fritsche (Harold) and Tom Taylor; and her siblings-in-law, Tom Shields (Linda), Mike Shields (Kathy), Mary Taylor, Lois Shields, Sharon Shields and Ann Shields.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Wilson's Funeral Home (206 S 5th St, Ava, IL 62907). A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Andrews Parish (724 Mulberry St, Murphysboro, IL 62966).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St Ann's Catholic Church, Raddle or St. Andrews Catholic Church, Murphysboro.
