He was predeceased by: his parents, Willbur Mathias and Dessa Mathias; his siblings, Wilbur Mathias, Jack Mathias and Virginia Weyant (Sissy); his grandson Mathew Mathias; and his nephew Wilbur Mathias (Willy).

He is survived by: his wife Patsy Mathias; his sons, Ken Mathias (Carol) and Allen Mathias (Connie); his grandchildren, Amy Streb (Charlie), Jaimi Ramsey (Alex), Sarah Downey (Michael), Michael Faust (Cami) and Kyle Mathias; and his great grandchildren, Olive Ramsey, Autumn Ramsey, Kaci Streb, Remi Streb, Brady Streb and Holden Downey.

Visitation was held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Jay B. Smith Fenton Chapel (777 Oakwood Dr, Fenton, MO 63026). A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Russell Heights Cemetery.
