She was predeceased by: her parents, Ralph H. Young, Sr. and Iva M. Zellner; her adoptive parents, Walter S. Matthes and Victoria Matthes (Przbyl); and her brother Ralph H. Young, Jr..

She is survived by: her husband James Hastings; her children, Corey Hastings (Jacqueline) of Arnold, MO, Michael Hastings (Sara) of Gainseville, GA and Cynthia Hamilton (Hughie) of Eastover, SC; and her brothers, Brian Matthes of Ohio and Martin Matthes of North Carolina. She is also survived by seven grandchildren.
