He is survived by: his wife Sheryl "Dale" Shields (Church); his children, Greg Schaefer (Jessica) of Glasgow, MO, Marilyn Cannon (Brian) of Lone Jack, MO and Monica Schaefer of Fayette, MO; his grandchildren, Aidan, Beaty, Declan Cannon, Connor, KatiJo and Christopher Schaefer; his sisters, Mildred Brand of Glasgow, MO and Stella Niemier of Belton, MO; and his siblings-in-law, Nina Bell Schaefer, Denise Hubbard of Fayette, Dana Hamilton of Fayette, Diane Day of Glasgow and Delano Shields of Boonville.
