He is survived by: his children, William "Bill" E. Matthews Jr. (Marganna Blastenbrei) of St. Louis, Carolyn Bridges (Floyd) of Bowie, Kimberly Matthews of Columbia, MO and Alfred Thomas Frost IV of St. Louis; his grandchildren, Thomas Jackson, Malinda Jackson and Miyonna Bridges; his sisters-in-law, Erie May Johnson of Chicago, Curlie Lee Moore of Chicago and Sharon Matthews of St. Louis; and his close friend Etta Matthews (Rankin).
