He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Franklin and Dede Porter (Young); his wife Rachel "Jeneane" Porter (Martin); and his siblings, Myrtle, Amelia Jo, Billie Jean, Louise, Fannie and Jess.
He is survived by: his sons, Tom Porter Jr. (Pam) of Farmington, Terry Porter (Kristi) of Paducah, KY, Todd Porter (Michele) of Williamsville and Timmeray Porter (Donna) of Farmington; and his close friend Glenda Chapman of Farmington. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren.
