We are sad to announce that on May 4, 2021, at the age of 63, Jerome Joseph Planitz Jr. of Farmington, Missouri, born in Granite City, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerome Joseph Planitz Sr. and Ruth Planitz Oster (McMurty). He is survived by: his wife Beth Planitz (Richardson); his son Jerome Joseph Planitz III (Lisa) of Cuba; his siblings, Kim Edwards (Rick) of Granite City, Jesse "Skip" Planitz of Ironton, Ramona "Mona" Gant of Granite City and Mark Planitz (Renee) of Paducah; and his pet Maggie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Jerry formerly worked for 19 years at Shell Oil in Wood River, Illinois as a supervisor before becoming the power plant supervisor at the University of Missouri in Rolla where he remained for 19 years before being furloughed due to COVID.
