He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Lee and Clara Dell Hammond (Gable); his sons, Michael and Joseph Hammond; and his sister Judith Hammond.

He is survived by: his wife Dora Ann Barker; his sons, James Hammond (Reta Dearing-Hammond) of Farmington and Jack Hammond III (Lisa) of Arnold, Missouri; and his brother Daniel Hammond of Desloge, Missouri. He is also survived by four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
