He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Grimes and Juanita Grimes (Goggins); his wife Elaine Carol Grimes (Umfleet); and his siblings, Andy Grimes, Ronnie Grimes and Ina "Sis" Wells.
He is survived by: his children, Warren Grimes (Diane), Michael Grimes (Kimberly) and Diana Willard (Jeff); and his grandchildren, Shawn Grimes (Cherilyn), Timothy Grimes, Aaron Grimes, Colt Grimes, Jared Willard (Ashleigh), Lindsey Lashley (Matt), Ethan Grimes (Allyson), Julie Willard and Zachary Grimes. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
