It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David Wayne Bates of Fair Grove, Missouri, born in Hawthorne, California, who passed away on October 6, 2021, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Bates and Virginia Brown (Stafford); his wife Amelia "Sue"; and his brothers, Robert Bates and George Bates.
He is survived by: his children, Bart Wayne, David Shane, James "Jay" Auburn Bates, Joi Bates of Springfield, Charity Bates of Fair Grove and Lindsay Bates of Fair Grove; his brother Ronald Bates of Missouri; his aunt Mary Cunningham of Springfield; his grandchildren, Ashley (Kyle Davis), Kaylen Bates, Talon (Bailey Bates), Dylan Bates, Brystol Bates and Alex Bates; his great grandchildren, Kash and Kolt Davis; and his pet Ozzie.
