She was predeceased by: her parents, David Covey and Margret Ashby Covey; her husband Leo Downer; and her siblings, Richard Covey and Alice Marie.

She is survived by: her siblings, James Covey, Steve Covey, Robert Covey (Laura), Jack Covey (Eleanor), David Gene Covey Gary (Jan), Tommy Covey (Cheryl), Audrey McSwain (Todd) and Debbie St. John (Scott); her children, James Ballinger, David Ballinger (Susan), Michael Ballinger, Dale Ballinger (Lori), Tina Dial (Mike) and Delores Kinser; and her stepchildren, Bob Carroll, Rita Hodges, Connie Hayes, Linda Robb and Jane Downer. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great grand children.

Family suggest donation in lieu of flowers to Lewis Cemetery for upkeep.
