She was predeceased by: her husband Chester Lee Gates; her son Thomas Franklin Gates; her fathers, Homer Ford and Glenn Ford; and her siblings, Joe Ford, Carolyn Parkerson and Mary Pate.

She is survived by: her sons, Robert Gates (Candon) of Wildwood, Missouri and Sam Gates of Front Royal, Virginia; her grandsons, Christopher Gates (Jamie) and Kevin Gates (Jessica) of Florida; and her great grandchildren, Faith, Samuel and Porter Gates of Bristow.
