He was predeceased by: his parents, Mckinley Thornton and Julie Thornton (Ayers); and his siblings, Calvin Thornton, Bob Ayers, Clarence Ayers, Hugh Ayers, Pauline Thornton, Elizabeth Ayers and Emma Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Maggie Lee Thornton; his children, Perry Dean Thornton (Amber) of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Dennis Edward Thornton (Chrissy) of Dexter, Mark Anthony Thornton of Sikeston, Missouri and Julia Henry of Dexter, Missouri; his siblings, Bobby Joe Thornton (Norma Jean), Jessie Thornton (Eula) of Malden, Missouri, Mary Jo Underwood (Robert) of Malden and Betty Jo Harris of Elkhart, Indiania; and his close friend Curtis Simpson of Kansas City, Missouri.. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
