He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Epperson and Hattie Epperson (Dunlap); and his brothers, Eugene Epperson, Howard Epperson, Jim Epperson, Hershel Epperson and Glen Epperson.

He is survived by: his spouse Jean Bailey; his children, Ivan Epperson of Ellsinore, Darrick Epperson of Ellsinore, Selena Epperson of Ellsinore, Regina Sullivan of Ellsinore and Alina Reynolds of North Pole, AK; and his sister Mary Henson of Illinois. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
