He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherman Pinkley DeMent and Maple Charlotte DeMent (Wells); his former wife Judy Casey (Pogue); and his siblings, Donald Lee DeMent, Johnny Paul DeMent, Shirley Ashlock and Antoinette Molohon.
He is survived by: his children, Matthew Clark DeMent (Elaine) of Redford, Lisa Howard (Ronnie) of Edwardsville and Lori Flagg of New Boston; and his siblings, Junior DeMent of Arnold, Charles DeMent (David DeMent), George DeMent (Richard DeMent), Mike DeMent of Redford, Helen Campbell of Park Hills and Virginia Bowles of Farmington. He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
