He was predeceased by: his parents, Carney Joseph and Esther Theresa Surface (Pirner); and his siblings, Carney Surface, Jr., Thomas Surface, Ronald Surface, Donnie Surface, Virginia Mae Surface and Bonnie Sue Surface.
He is survived by: his wife Alice; his children, Charles Andrew Surface (Heidi), Anita Marie Surface (Guy Witt), Tana Rena Peeper (Sean) and Carrie Ann Kasper (Nathan Kehr); his grandchildren, Mason Drury, Alissa Surface, Noah Surface, Kasey Scott, Destynie Kittel, Cody Kittel, Kertis Kittel, Spencer Peeper, Aidan Giesing, Abbygail Giesing, Keegan Rose, Ethan Kasper and Riley Kasper; his great grandchild Myla Drury; and his sisters-in-law, Evelyn Surface, Jackie Surface and Jeanette Surface.
