He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Johnston and Iola Mae Chapius Johnston; his former wife Louise Boley; his sister Clara (Rex Whitcanack); and his son-in-law Fred Ladwig.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Johnston of Edina, MO; his children, Susan Ladwig of Edina, MO, Craig Johnston (Heike) of Columbia, MO and John Johnston of Kirksville, MO; and his stepsons, Terry Robertson (Kim) of Hannibal, MO and Lyle Robertson (Connie) of Linn Creek, MO. He is also survived by four step grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
