He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Monroe and Georgena Hayes; his brothers, Jerry Lee Hayes and Larry Dean Hayes; his parents-in-law, Mary and Pete Strode; his brothers-in-law, Charlie Strode and Cecil Scott, Jr.; his nephew Rich Hollinger; and his great-nephew Evan Hollinger.
He is survived by: his wife Sherrie Hayes of Edina, Missouri; his pet Lucy; his sister Martha Ann "Martie" Scott of Palmyra, Missouri; his siblings-in-law, Faye Hayes of Columbia, Cheryl Hayes of Edina, Missouri and Monte Kite of Hannibal, Missouri; and his aunt Mary Frances Quinlin of Hannibal, Missouri.
