Walter Lee Bryars Obituary
Rev. Walter Lee Bryars, age 79, died Sunday, February 5, 2023, at his home in East Prairie.
Walter was born August 5, 1943, in the Deventer Community of Mississippi County to the late Paul Lee Bryars and Esther May Fisher Bryars and had lived in East Prairie most of his life. Walter was a worker and foreman for Mount Level Farms for many years which he was very proud of, coming from a share-croppers son to a place he earned with his hard work and love for the land.
Walter was a faithful minister of the Lord's Gospel and brought the word every chance he had. His motto was F- Faith, F- Family, F-Friends, and he never let them down. He was a member of the St. James General Baptist Church in East Prairie.
On April 20, 1973, Walter was united in marriage to Lola Dorris at the Wolf Island Baptist Church, at Wolf Island, Mo., by the Rev. Don Edwards.
In addition to his wife, Walter leaves behind his two children, Walter Lee (Elisha) Bryars, II of East Prairie and Marsha Dawn Bryars (Richard) Loomes of East Prairie; six grandchildren, Brandon (Logan) Patrick, Dustin (Conner) Bryars, Cody (Logan) Bryars, Mason (Brianna) Bryars, Kaleigh Anna Bryars Green and Alivia Rose Loomes; five great grandchildren, Emmie Patrick, Aubree Patrick, Camden Lee Bryars, Kaislee Grace Bryars and Jayna Claire Bryars; one brother, Harold (Patricia) Bryars of Charleston; two sisters, Jewell Pauline Hale and Connie Powers both of East Prairie, also many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Cleveland Bryars and two brothers in law, Carl Donnie Hale and Steven Wesley Powers.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2023, at the McMikle Funeral Home. Rev. David Dowdy will officiate. A eulogy will be offered by his son, Walter Bryars, II.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Blake Patrick, Dustin Lee Bryars, Cody Ross Bryars, Mason Dakota Bryars, Kaleigh Anna Bryars Green and Charles Moore.
Honorary pallbearers will be Marsha Dawn Bryars Loomes, Alivia Rose Loomes and Harold Wesley Bryars.
