She was predeceased by: her parents, Wade Shanks and Katie Franklin Griggs Shanks; her husband Herbert Lair (Jack); and her sister Patsy Raleigh. She is survived by: her children, Lois Griffin (Lindsey) of Durham and Wade Lair (Karen) of Durham; her grandchildren, Diana Mast (Adam) of Durham, Christy Waters (Jason) of Columbia, MO, Jessica Wilson (Dan) of Edina, MO, Heather Mikesell (Mat) of Noblesville, IN and Melissa Ausmus (Tyson) of Edina; her siblings, Jim Shanks (Trudy) of La Grange, Wanda McReynolds of Durham and Mary McDonald of Ewing; and her great grandchildren, Jason Waters, Adam Mast, Dan Wilson, Tyson Ausmus, Mat Mikesell, Shaun Bailey, Nathan Bailey and Hayden Wilson. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Northeast Missouri.
