He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Earl Smith and Mable Mae Smith (Nichols); his parents-in-law, Virgil and Lela Stout; his wife Vida Smith; his sisters, Fern Shannon (Lyle) and Shirley Chandler (Gene); and his brothers-in-law, Maynard Ackerson and Byron Stout (Pearl).
He is survived by: his sons, Bobby "Cotton" Smith (Linda) of Cuba, MO, John Smith (Cheryl) of West Plains, MO and Chester "Gene" Smith of Drury, MO; and his sister Eunice Ackerson. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
