It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Bill Yates of Doniphan, Missouri, born in Rolla, Missouri, who passed away on September 18, 2020, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, William Fredrick and Mary Elizabeth Cannady Yates; his wife Norma Jean Collins; and his siblings, Edna Hardy, Geneva King, Jim Yates, George Yates, Lee Yates and John Yates.
He is survived by: his sons, Rick Yates of Doniphan, MO and Billy Yates (Nancy) of White House, TN; his sister Ruby Cox (Cleaven) of Supply, AR; his siblings-in-law, Bertha Mae Wilson of Doniphan, MO, Ervel Collins (Linda) of Nashville, TN and Dale Collins (Helen) of Millstadt, IL; and his grandchildren, Ashley Thompson of Doniphan, MO, Amber Dewitt of West Plains, MO and Grayson Yates of White House, TN. He is also survived by five great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, to honor Bill's wish for everyone to take the virus seriously and to stay safe, there will not be a traditional funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the following charity: Hearts for the Arts Scholarship Fund c/o Southern Bank 302 Washington Street Doniphan, MO 63935.
