He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Burgess and Patsy Ruth Burgess (Rigsby); his son Jason; and his brothers, Frank Burgess and Gary Burgess.
He is survived by: his children, Shawn Matherly (Shannon) and Mindy Meeker (Kevin); and his siblings, Patty Olsen (Billy Olsen), Pete Rhodes, Cody Rhodes, Rolla, Shane Thompson (Jennifer) and Columbia. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; nephews; nieces and many other relatives and friends.
