He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Jackson and Edna Marie Dempsey Dowdy; and his siblings, Edward Dowdy, Jimmy Dowdy, Johnny Dowdy, Clarence Dowdy, Bill Spence, Leta Sides, Lovena Dowdy, Nancy Pullum, Alice Faye Dowdy and Louise Williams.
He is survived by: his wife Claudia Dowdy; his children, Larry Andrew Dowdy (Jaime) of St. Louis and Kathy Jarrell (Clifton) of Dexter; his stepchildren, Harvey Field Jr. of Dexter, Karen Fields of Dexter and Melinda Wilson of Teutopolis, Illinois; and his siblings, Richard Dowdy (Regina) of Dexter and Ivy Horn of Dexter, Missouri.. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.
