Gene Waibel Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gene Waibel (Des Peres, Missouri), who passed away on April 23, 2018 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Clifford Waibel and Frances Waibel; his spouse Therese Lahey Waibel; and his children, Martha Waibel Shaunnessy, James Waibel (Jean), Robert Waibel (Becky), William Waibel (Rene) and Amy Waibel Baker.
He was "PaPa" to Roy Burnett, Katie Shaunnessy Brenner, Daniel Shaunnessy, Ellen Shaunnessy, Drew Waibel, Andy Waibel, Emily Waibel, Max Waibel, Katie Waibel Eversgard, and Tess Waibel and great "PaPa' to Callen Burnett, Jenna Burnett and Jackson Brenner. Gene was a proud WWII Air Corps veteran and had a successful and respected career with IBM. He loved sailing, tennis and sunsets in Saugatuck, MI and Captiva Island, FL. A long well-lived live. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 5:00-8:00pm at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Road, Kirkwood, MO 63122. A memorial mass will be Monday, April 30, 2018 at 11:00am at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 1510 Bopp Road, Des Peres, MO 63131. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in honor of Gene Waibel to the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight, 36 Four Seasons Shopping Center, Box 272, Chesterfield, MO 63017; gslhonorflight.org.
