He is survived by: his children, Gene Schmitt (Nancy), Fred "Freddie" Schmitt, Jr. (Karen), Chris Schmitt (Pam) and Carrie Schmitt of Chicago, IL; his grandchildren, Samantha Yount, Michael Schmitt, Scott Schmitt, Bobby Schmitt, Gracie Schmitt, MaKayla Jamerson (Spencer) and Dustin Schmidt; his great grandchildren, Logan Yount, Autumn Yount, Jocelyn Smith, Easton Schmitt and Malia Jamerson; his former wife Patricia Riehl; his stepdaughters, Rhonda Alexander (Tom), Patricia Beaman (late Mike) and Denise McMullin; and his close friend Elvis.
