He was predeceased by: his parents, John C. Koch and Mary Koch (Ruckel); and his sister Mary Carol Thornburg (Koch). He is survived by: his wife Lela; his children, Mark (Laura Koch) of Peculiar, Rocky (Brenda Koch) of Harrisonville and Clara (Stan Taber) of Creighton; and his grandchildren, Jessica Miller (Taber), Jon Koch, Mackenzie Koch, Wes Taber and Kristen Koch.
